A rental car needs the right contract
The DMV says your name must be on the contract, and it must not exclude driving tests. Some rental companies restrict test use, so read yours first.
A friend's car has to pass the pre-drive check
The examiner checks lights, tires, horn, seat belts and more. Registration and proof of insurance have to be in the car. One burnt-out brake light can cost you the appointment.

What do I need to book?
You need a California instruction permit and a booked behind-the-wheel test.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel more than 48 hours before your appointment and you get a refund minus a $70 fee. Cancellations within 48 hours and no-shows are non-refundable, because your driver and vehicle are committed by then. If something on our side stops the test, you get a full refund.
What happens if I fail my driving test?
You can rebook with us for your next test. The DMV sets waiting periods, fees and attempt limits, which depend on your age and application.
